SCRIPPS NETWORKS appoints Eduardo Hauser Managing Director for LATAM and the Caribbean

Scripps Networks Interactive announced the appointment of Eduardo Hauser as its new Managing Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. Hauser joined the company on March 7, and his position will be based in Miami.

He will be responsible for the strategic direction and daily business operations of the entire company in these two regions which currently includes Food Network.

Additionally, Hauser has the task of identifying and evaluating growth opportunities in the region including the launch of new channels, strategic alliances and partnerships across multiple platforms and distribution channels.

“The extensive experience of Eduardo in pan-regional media, along with his vision and entrepreneurship will position very well to Scripps Networks toward the goal of developing and expanding our business throughout Latin America,” said Jim Samples, President, International to whom Hauser will report. “Latin America is a very important media center and with Eduardo to head we are confident we can achieve our full growth potential.”

At an earlier stage of his career, Hauser created the strategic alliance between Cisneros and AOL to launch AOL in Latin America; also he played an integral role in the creation of the partnership between Hughes Electronics, Cisneros, Multivision of Mexico and Brazil April Group to launch DIRECTV in Latin America.

 

Before joining AOL as Executive Vice President for Latin America, he was for 10 years with Cisneros, including the position of Director General of the office of the presidency. Hauser has also held senior management positions with Cricket Media and Venevision.

 

Subsequently Hauser developed Hauser & Co., a consulting firm specializing in investment and consulting in media communication, technology, education and restaurants. In addition, DailyMe, a company specializing in personalization technology for news media. More recently, Hauser also contributed to the development of Soy TED a television format based on the famous TED talks, aimed at Spanish-speaking audience.

 

Hauser is a lawyer, graduated from the Catholic University Andres Bello in Venezuela and holds a Masters in Law awarded by Duke University.
