The telco Movistar Play launches its OTT service in Chile, with a target of 20,000 users in 2014, in a competitive market with platforms like Netflix, Totalmovie and Bazooka.

In its first stage, Movistar Play offers more than 1,800 titles from movies, documentaries and series, equivalent to 1,700 hours of playback. Premium movies are 200. The monthly subscription is worth USD $6.57 and Pay per View will be USD $3.74 and USD $5.63 in HD.

To obtain service, you need not be a customer of Movistar or any of its services and there will be two modes of payment. One is exclusive for Movistar Hogar customers, who can pay it along with their broadband monthly bill, landline and/or TV. The second option is through a credit or debit card via WebPay.

“This service is an initiative that Telefonica is carrying to different countries like Argentina (On Video) and Brazil (Vivo Play), in order to compete in all of Latin America with large OTT companies” said Sebastian Precht, broadband manager of Movistar and IPTV.
