Smithsonian grows in Latin America hand in hand with Castalia Communications

Conventions / Pay TV

We launched  the Smithsonian channel in Latin America hand in hand with Castalia Communications last May through DIRECTV, and it is so exciting to see how where its going already in one of its most popular non-fiction television channels and it has a great reception from the industry in Latin America.

David Royle – Executive Vicepresident of Smithsonian Channel

“This give us great confidence and motivates us to launch the channel elsewhere on the continent under other operators and we have been having some fantastic talks during NATPE last week in Miami, with cable operators and other potential operators who are interested that the channel arrives to other parts of the continent,” said David Role.

“I think we’re going to see in the next six months or so, quite a few announcements not only about launchings in Latin America, but about our launchings elsewhere in the world” highlighted David.

The expert also said that Smithsonian is factual entertainment. “We live in a world where people have picked-out what to believe and experiment. A world we’re forced to, experiment and believe, where people no longer know if they read something whether is true or not. We are bringing a channel that is completely based on real events.”
