TONDERO prepares El Túnel based on the takeover of the Japanese Embassy in Peru

Headed by a group of leading Peruvian filmmakers, the production is in the development stage and will begin filming next year.

Tondero continues its growth and positioning in the national and international market, this 2019 opens to new projects and one of the most important is the series based on a real fact that put Peru in the crosshairs of the whole world: The takeover of the Embassy of Japan in Peru by the revolutionary group MRTA  in 1996.

The team of screenwriters led by Peruvian filmmaker Josué Méndez (screenwriter of the series “El Chapo” and director of the film “Días de Santiago”) along with the writer and journalist Santiago Roncagliolo (“La Cuarta Espada”“Abril Rojo”) and theater dramatist Patricia Romero, are already working on the story of El Túnel.

“This project is a new challenge for Tondero and a great responsibility. The objective is to have a competitive series in the international market and for this we have a group of renowned screenwriters and filmmakers. Although there is still no confirmed cast, the idea of the series is to have national and foreign actors. The sale of El Túnel will be in charge of Cecilia Gómez de la Torre, Associate General Manager of Tondero Distribución. “Indicated Miguel Valladares (CEO of Tondero) and Jorge Constantino (Manager of Production and Project Development).
