Intellectual property relates to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, as well as symbols, names and images used in commerce.

Author’s rights range from books, music, painting, sculpture and films to computer programs, databases, advertisements, maps and technical drawings.

The copyright law in the West began in 1710 with the Statute of Queen Anne and is recognized as one of the fundamental human rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

To balance the interest of innovators and the public interest, the intellectual property system seeks to foster an enabling environment for creativity and innovation to thrive.

Luis C. Endara III, Chapter President of CERTAL Panama, affirmed that: “CERTAL is an organization that works in the fight against irregularities on intellectual property and piracy. For our part we can only invite you to cooperate, continue working, and we hope you can join us at our 6th. World Summit to be held in this country in December” he concluded.

This chapter CERTAL Panama chaired by Luis C. Endara III offers today July 23 the II International Forum Against Piracy Union: “Intellectual Property and Piracy in Panama” within the framework of the Convention TEPAL Expo, which is being held in the facilities of the Hotel ALOFT in Panama City, Republic of Panama.
